Best Ever GCSE Achievers Honoured in Ceremony

The success and achievements of the class of 2012 were honoured this week in a ceremony at Blackfen School for Girls.

The former Year 11 students were presented with prizes and certificates by Moyra Pickering, Bexley Council’s Deputy Director for Schools and SEN.   Ms Pickering, a former student of the school had been a Deputy Head and a Head Teacher at schools in the borough before moving to the council to share her expertise in education.

Outstanding GCSE results for 2012

Outstanding GCSE results have been achieved by year 11 students at Blackfen School. The 211 year 11 students at the school produced the best ever results for the school. The percentage of students gaining five or more A*-C (including English and Mathematics) is over 79% this year representing a 13% improvement on last year.

Showcase of talent opens £2million performance venue

Blackfen School's new £2million performance space officially opened this week with a stunning showcase packed full of talent by students of both the school and Liz Burville Performing Arts Centre.

The new £2million space is the culmination of four years of planning and 12 months of construction. It is a multi-use facility with the most up to date sound and lighting equipment and retractable seating.
