Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium Grant is a grant that is given to schools to support the progress and achievement of pupils who are in receipt of Free School Meals, or who have been entitled to Free School Meals in the last six years. This recognises the fact that the education outcomes, and therefore the life chances of children, can be severely impacted by poverty. We believe at Blackfen that EVERY child should be supported to be successful, and that no child should be held back because of being brought up in poverty. The Pupil Premium strategy gets to the heart of our vision-raising aspirations and releasing potential.
The funding is given to schools to spend as they choose and every year, the school must produce a report about how it has spent the Pupil Premium Grant and how it plans to spend it in the coming year. We have to report on the educational outcomes of our Pupil Premium students to demonstrate that this funding has been well spent.
At Blackfen, we use the Pupil Premium Grant to support our students both academically and in terms of their welfare because we believe that the most progress is made when students attend regularly, are ready to learn and are taught by curriculum experts.
Please see the Pupil Premium document below for further detail.
