What is SIMS Learning Gateway?
All schools have a database in which student information is stored. The SIMS Learning Gateway (SLG) Parent site enables parents of current students at Blackfen to access the SIMS school database via the web to view information about their children, e.g. attendance, timetables and behaviour.
Access to SIMS Learning Gateway is strictly controlled and only adults with parental responsibility will be allowed access to this data. It is important that you inform the school if for some reason an adult's access to a student's data changes.
If you have a problem accessing SLG, please email the school at admin@blackfen.bexley.sch.uk from your registered email address. There is an SLG User Guide for parents at the foot of the page which you may find useful.

Please click on the link below to go to the SIMS Learning Gateway login page. You will need the User ID and password supplied by the school to continue beyond the login page.

The SIMS Learning Gateway login page looks like this:
Logging in for the First Time
Click in the small white circle to the left of This is a private computer as shown in the screenshot above. The time out period is longer with this setting.
Click with the mouse in the Username box. Type the User ID supplied by the school into the Username box.
Click with the mouse into the Password box. Type in your password provided by the school - take care to type this in accurately paying particular attention to whether upper case (capital letters) or lower case (small letter) is used.
Click on the Log On button
Click in the Old Password box and enter the password again
Click in the New Password box and enter a password of your choosing.
Your new password has to meet certain requirements in order to comply with password security rules for logging on. These are:
- Your password must contain at least one lower case letter
- Your password must contain at least one capital letter
- Your password must contain at least one number
- Your password must NOT contain any part of your user ID
Click in the Confirm new password box and type this new password in again
Click on the button Change Password
Should you encounter difficulties of any kind logging on, please contact the school using the email address admin@blackfen.bexley.sch.uk. It is important to remember that you should not include your User ID and password together in any communication to the school.
If you want to change your password
If for some reason you suspect someone else knows your password you should change it immediately. The system will require all users to change their passwords on a regular basis.
Log into SIMS Learning Gateway
Click on My Account Page which is displayed on the left hand side of the screen.
Scroll down to the Change My user Account Password panel
Click in the Old Password box
Type in your current password
Click in the New Password box
Type in your new password
Click in the Confirm New Password box
Type your new password in again
Click on the Change button
