Partners in a
successful learning
journey
We strongly believe that the success of Blackfen students at school
is underpinned by valued partnerships with students’ families. When
young person, home and school work together our young people are
highly successful.
Consultation and information events throughout
the year provide opportunities for parents and
carers to engage with the school. Students are
set annual challenging targets in every subject at
the beginning of the academic year. Progress is
carefully monitored and reported home through
termly updates. Parents are invited to attend
selected lessons and events during the school day
as part of our parent programme. Parents are also
updated with school life via the website and the
fortnightly Newsletter. The school regularly seeks
parental views through surveys, questionnaires and
meetings with the Head Teacher.
Our established, experienced and skilled
Governing Body strategically oversee the work of
the school and ensure that statutory duties are met
and that challenging targets for the school are set
and monitored. Although we are an independent
standalone Academy, we work closely with
Sherwood Park school and Hurstmere School as
founding members of the Penhill Academies Trust
(an Umbrella Trust).
