 Lucy Portman

Subjects I studied Blackfen School: I studied History, Law and Psychology at A Level and studied Sociology for one year at AS Level.

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen School?: I have just completed a degree in BSc Psychology with a 2:1. I am now waiting to start my masters in Forensic Psychology in September.

What are your fondest memories of Blackfen School?: The people that I met at Blackfen will always be the best part of my school experience, I made some great friends for life and had some incredible teachers who have helped shape who I am today and helped me along my journey. I can honestly say I wouldn’t have been able to achieve what I have today without their constant support and guidance.

Subjects I studied at Blackfen School: At GCSE: Drama, History, Economics, Citizenship, Triple Science, Cambridge Nationals (IT), Mathematics, English Literature and Language.

At A Level: English Literature, Drama and Theatre Studies and History.

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen School?: I have just completed my undergraduate degree in Creative and Professional Writing BA (Hons) and will be graduating with a 2:1 In September.

What are your fondest memories of Blackfen School?: My fondest memory of Blackfen was performing in the school production of Oliver, playing the role of Fagin. It was the most amazing experience and gave me the confidence to believe in myself.

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen School?: I work for a veterinary clinic and am in my second year of veterinary nursing.

 Megan La Roche

Subjects I studied at Blackfen School: A levels History, Psychology and Photography.

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen School?: After sixth form I floated through a few office jobs but I didn't think it was for me. So I didn't something completely different and went into a NVQ level 3 in pharmaceutical science and a level 2 in pharmacy services. I studied for just under two years and I'm now a practising Pharmacy Technician in Hayshine Pharmacy in Welling. I've also got really interested in campaigning for mental health. In 2018 I completed an online course and achieved a TQUK level 2 in awareness of mental health and in June 2019 I became a qualified mental health first aider. At my current workplace I'm working alongside Mind in Bexley to make services more accessible and known to people in the local area.

What are your fondest memories of Blackfen School?: My best bit of sixth form was being with my friends all the time, studying different things and especially the year 13 trip to Poland!

 Hannah Davis

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen School?: I have completed a law degree at the University of Winchester, and I'll be graduating in October 2019. Undertaking the legal practice course in September 2019, to become a trainee solicitor at the University of Law in Exeter.

What are your fondest memories of Blackfen School?: The Christmas Pantos.

 Sophie Warren

Subjects I studied at Blackfen School: Business, Hospitality and Media.

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen School?: Since leaving Blackfen I went straight into completing a level 3 NVQ housing practice apprenticeship for a year within Southwark council, after my year I was offered the opportunity to complete a level 4 business management and administration apprenticeship which I completed in August. I was then offered a job at London and quadrant housing as a technical assistant which is the role I am in now.

What are your fondest memories of Blackfen School?: Making lots of friends and memories throughout the years (who I am still friends with now) and definitely prom!

 Jessica Allam

Subjects I studied at Blackfen School: A-Level Geography, Psychology, Biology EPQ and AS-Level Business.

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen School?: Since leaving Blackfen, I completed a 2 year, level 3 Extended Diploma in Animal Management at Hadlow college gaining a distinction*. I then moved to St Austell in Cornwall to complete my first year of a BSc in Applied Zoology and Conservation at Cornwall College Newquay. Alongside the course I took on a job at Penrice Academy as an Animal technician on their school farm.

What are your fondest memories of Blackfen School?: The awesome teachers and friends who pulled me through the two years! It was an amazing experience and even though I took a very different route after year 13, I wouldn’t change going to blackfen sixth form!

 Chloe Fisher

Subjects I studied at Blackfen School: A Levels: History, Law and ICT.

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen School?: After a hard and long training process I am now a Police Constable. I am a response officer in Lewisham responding to 999 calls.

What are your fondest memories of Blackfen School?: I loved the relationships I made with the teachers who helped me through my time at Blackfen; Ms Terry, Ms Morris, Mr Neil etc. I am forever grateful for everything they did for me at Blackfen and can never thank them enough. My lessons with them will never be forgotten... and of course being head girl was also a great achievement.

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen School?: I went on the to study History and Politics at Goldsmiths University. I am now a barrister clerk for a top set of chambers.

 Olivia Annand

Subjects I studied at Blackfen School: BTEC Public Services, Work Skills and Law and Legal.

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen School?: I only stayed at sixth form for 1 year. I went onto do an apprenticeship in Support Teaching and Learning in Schools and became a fully qualified Primary Teaching Assistant, gained numerous additional training and worked in a Primary School for 2 years. However, I moved to Plymouth where I am now currently doing a Level 3 Access to Nursing course. Next year pending interview I will be starting a Midwifery degree at Plymouth University.

What are your fondest memories of Blackfen School?: Being in my group and all the memories we made and the Disneyland trip.

Subjects I studied at Blackfen School: Business Studies, Sociology & Media Studies.

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen School?: Since leaving school I have tried out very different areas of work, from hospitality roles to veterinary care to broking travel insurance but was very keen to work in a people-centred and fulfilling role so managed to land a job as a Mental Health Assistant for The Priory, specialising in helping individuals who have Eating Disorders and working across all departments of the hospital.

Subjects I studied at Blackfen School: Sociology, Business, Photography.

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen School?: After Sixth Form I worked full time in a nursery for two years and completed a Level 3 course in child development. I then went on to study primary education at the university of Greenwich.
I am now a qualified primary school teacher and have joined a local primary school as a Reception Class Teacher.

What are your fondest memories of Blackfen School?: too many!!
The trips we went on and the support we were all offered throughout were amazing.

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen School?: Graduated with an honours degree in politics and international relations, spent 2 years at the department for international trade working in financial and professional services. Now moving on to the foreign, commonwealth and development office to work on the UK’s global health security strategy.

What are your fondest memories of Blackfen School?: Summer lunch breaks on the school field.

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen School?: Since leaving Blackfen, I went on to study Childhood and Youth studies at the University of Greenwich achieving a First Class Honours. I then continued my education and went to study a PGCE in Primary Education at UCL and in September 2020 I became a Year 1 teacher at a Greenwich school with numerous responsibilities such as pupil leadership, RSE and RE lead.

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen School?: I have attained a first class honours degree in fashion management at a Russel group university (University of Southampton).

Since graduating I have worked across both fashion and beauty companies as a buying assistant working my way towards becoming a buyer for a big fashion or beauty company. I currently work at SpaceNK and have worked previously at John Lewis, Debenhams and French Connection.

 Kirsty Gregory

Subjects I studied at Blackfen School: History, French, English Lit & Psychology.

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen School?: I got a 2:1 in my degree at London Metropolitan University and then decided to go in a different direction to my uni course. For the last two years I have been working as a PA to a Director in local Government and have also been a project manager for the last year. I am hoping to undertake my project management qualification this year.

What are your fondest memories of Blackfen School?: Having the best time with friends - and my day finishing at 15:10!

 Lauren Boud

Subjects I studied at Blackfen School: GSCES (Not including English/Maths/Science): Business BTEC, Photography, Fine Art, Citizenship, ICT.

A-Levels: History, English Literature, Photography, Art and Design BTEC.

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen School?: Since leaving Blackfen, I went to study Video Game Design and Development at London South Bank University. I studied for three years and graduated with a First (with honours). In my time studying, I was involved with many different game development projects and even worked with different charities to make something for them. I am now working for a Games company known as Mediatonic, working on Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout.

What are your fondest memories of Blackfen School?: I would have to say my fondest memory was getting my GSCE results, which was enough for me to study History at A-Level; even if I didn’t have the base GSCE in History. There was a conditional grade that I needed to get for GSCE and I got what I needed. Being accepted into my university of choice on A-level result day was also really great.

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen Sixth Form? I have completed a business administration apprenticeship with ITV.

What are your fondest memories of Blackfen Sixth Form? Completing my sixth form classes; Media, ICT and Law and getting distinction stars in all.

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen Sixth Form?: I am currently a student paramedic at Canterbury Christchurch University. I'm on placement at the moment on the ambulances in the south east of Kent area.

What are your fondest memories of Blackfen Sixth Form?: Leaving with the grades I achieved.
