FOUNDATION PACKAGE—First Award Level 2

Exam board: Edexcel

Why study this subject:

To inspire and enthuse students to consider a career in the public services sector  and to give the students a broad knowledge and understanding of the public service sector

To support students progression onto level 3 qualifications 

Units:

UNIT 1– The role and work of the public services (exam)

UNIT 2– Working skills in the public service sector

UNIT 3-Employment in the public services

UNIT 5– health, fitness & lifestyle for the public services

How will I be assessed: 

Unit 1 in a hour long exam. Units 2,3 and 5 are coursework

A Pass, Merit or Distinction must be achieved in each unit. Unit 1 which is an exam counts for 25% of the qualification.  All other units which are coursework count for 75% of the qualification. Students will be assessed through written assignments, presentations, case studies, observations and practical work.

Future course and possible careers:

College courses.

Sixth form onto level 3 qualifications - students must meet the entry requirements. 

Apprenticeships within the public sector—local council, central government or other public services roles.
