Year leaving Blackfen Sixth Form: 2017

Subjects I studied at Blackfen Sixth Form: I studied Business, Health and Social Care and History.

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen Sixth Form?: Since leaving Blackfen sixth form, I have started a degree in construction management and have obtained a site management role with one of the biggest developers in the UK whilst studying for my degree.

What are your fondest memories of Blackfen Sixth Form?: My Health and Social Care lessons and what a great teacher Miss Morris is.

Subjects I studied at Blackfen Sixth Form: I studied Government & Politics, Sociology A-Levels and Media BTEC.

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen Sixth Form?: Since leaving Blackfen, I have started a level 3 business administrator civil service apprenticeship in Downing Street which has been an amazing experience.

What are your fondest memories of Blackfen Sixth Form?: My fondest memories of Blackfen would be my politics lessons with Mrs Blatch as they inspired me to choose politics as a career path.

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen School?: After school and sixth form I continued my education via completing a two-year business apprenticeship with Skills for Growth- Bexley. During this time I gained a job with the Metropolitan Police within the management team for the SEL Police contract. After my apprenticeship was finished I moved to become a criminal exhibit officer- which I still remain. I love my job and couldn’t thank my teachers enough for the support I got. I wouldn’t have made it this far without them.

What are your fondest memories of Blackfen School?: Business lessons were defiantly my favourite. The teachers were amazing and always helped when needed. They were always fun and interactive.

 

 Megan Gibson

Subjects I studied at Blackfen School: I studied BTEC Law, Psychology and Health and Social Care at A Level

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen School?: Since leaving Blackfen I went on to start a degree in psychology at Goldsmiths University. I achieved my first year and decided I wanted to get a job and possibly come back to this in the future. I have since started working for the Metropolitan Police in their referencing and vetting as a vetting officer and I love every minute.

What are your fondest memories of Blackfen School?: My fondest memories include many of the teachers in sixth form including Miss Smith and Miss Morris, and the reception staff including Miss Eiffert who helped me out a lot and really taught me a lot at that school. I also loved all the school trips including 3 days in Disneyland in year 9.

Subjects I studied at Blackfen School: ICT, Business Studies and Sociology

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen School?: Since leaving Sixth Form in 2017 I have completed an apprenticeship in Business Management, and stayed at that company for an extra year after that. I now work for the NHS at Darent Valley training staff on Clinical Systems. I have worked here for a year, and I am looking to progress further within my role.

What are your fondest memories of Blackfen School?: Achieving my 2 DISTINCTION* results was the best part of my time at Blackfen

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen School?: Since my departure from Blackfen School for Girls Sixth Form, I have achieved and graduated with an upper class honours degree in BSc Criminology and Criminal Psychology. I am now a case manager for serious offences, violent and sexual offenders.

What are your fondest memories of Blackfen School?: The time spent with friends, opportunities and learning provided by teachers, the pasta king options for lunch and the overall atmosphere of the school.

 

 Fiona Warren (nee Burgess)

Subjects I studied at Blackfen School: History, Religious Education, Chemistry and Core Maths

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen School?: I have graduated from University of Roehampton with a 2:1 in Primary Education which was a great experience .

What are your fondest memories of Blackfen School?: Having fun with friends and teachers in lesson and out of lessons. Also the support of the teachers and hilarious moments in Mrs Doyle's R.E lessons and Miss Gough's Chemistry lessons. The trip in year 13 to Berlin and Poland was one of the best experiences of my life. Lastly not to forget the Christmas pantos and birthday presents from Mr Brown!

Subjects I studied at Blackfen School: Childcare, Photography & ICT

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen School?: I left sixth form early after finishing all of my courses with the grades I wanted. I went straight into my first full time job at a nursery which I loved. I left to go to another one closer to home and have been there for almost three years, I am now a member of the management team and loving every second.

What are your fondest memories of Blackfen School?: The childcare lessons with Mrs Drewer learning everything I needed to know and the freedom of photography to explore and show off my art

 

 Rosie Yull

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen School?: I am currently a Full time Senior Administrator for a Large Medical Practice in Chislehurst. I have many tasks and my job role is completely varied where no day is the same. I also manage/supervise a student administrator who comes in twice a week for 2 hours each day straight from sixth form. I have looked after 3 student administrators prior to the current one. I feel I have achieved a lot from my current role including incredible customer service skills, supervision skills, team building.

What are your fondest memories of Blackfen School?: I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Blackfen. I would say I particularly enjoyed sixth form and my chosen subjects and grades I achieved made a huge contribution to the job I currently have now. I believe all the teachers at Blackfen were extremely helpful in ensuring I retained the best possible grades for my academic ability and I can only imagine they still are.

Subjects I studied at Blackfen School: GCSE I studied business, health and social care, statistics and religious studies passed all with at least a B grade

A level I studied business, law and travel/tourism and passed all with distinction*

What have you achieved since leaving Blackfen School?: I am now working in two schools in their finance department, I have only worked there for the past month, but it’s something I never thought I would do and the opportunity I decided to take, and I do not regret it!

What are your fondest memories of Blackfen School?: I loved school and I loved working hard to earn good grades and the support there was amazing!
