Blackfen School is a progressive and vibrant learning community that focuses on raising the aspirations and releasing the potential of every young person in our care.

In 2026, 62.9% of students in year 11 achieved five or more GCSE 9-4 grades, including at least a 4 in English and a 4 in Mathematics. Progress was also strong. At A level in 2025/2026, 38.5% of grades were at A*-B. Similarly, high levels were achieved in Level 3 BTEC qualifications.

Our Governors want to appoint a well-qualified, motivated, creative and innovative teacher who has the ability,

experience or knowledge of teaching:

• Drama from Key Stage 3 up to Post 16 A Level

•  GCSE Drama

•  A Level Drama

Applicants who can teach across wider Performing Arts Subjects and Physical Education will also be considered.

This is an opportunity to join a vibrant and enthusiastic department with a range of specialist teachers. Drama, along with Dance, are offered as separate KS3 Subjects in Years 7-9 and taught three times a fortnight throughout the year.  We also offer separate courses at KS4 in GCSE Drama (Eduqas) and GCSE Dance (AQA). At KS5 we offer A-Level Drama and A level Dance. We also offer a vast extra-curricular programme, including lunchtime Drama club, Performing Arts showcases and Whole School Musicals.

 

We are extremely lucky to have a State-of-the-Art Performance Space with a specialised Technical control room, two drama studios and a separate dance studio with mirrors and a sprung floor. The ideal candidate will have the experience of improving student outcomes.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Check.

This post is considered to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers. The school therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that the post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
