Catch Up Premium 2017/2018

The literacy and numeracy catch-up premium gives schools additional funding to support year 7 pupils who did not achieve the expected standard in reading and/or maths at the end of key stage 2 (KS2).

In 2017 to 2018 schools will receive the same overall amount of year 7 catch-up premium funding they received in 2016 to 2017, adjusted to reflect the percentage change in the size of their year 7 cohort, based on the October 2017 census.

In 2015 schools received £500 for each pupil who did not achieve at least level 4 in reading and/or mathematics at key stage 2. This year, schools will receive exactly the same amount (give or take a small percentage increase or decrease for cohort size change) regardless of whether they have more or less pupils not meeting the expected standard.
