30 hours 50 minutes per week (30.83)

39 weeks per year (term time plus one week)

Bexley Council 07 Points 071 to 074 – FTE Salary £25,137 to £26,520 per annum.

Actual Salary: £18,353.81 to £19,363.61 + Outer London Allowance

Blackfen School is a progressive and vibrant learning community that focuses on raising the aspirations and releasing the potential of every young person in our care. In In 2019, 60% of students in year 11 achieved five or more GCSE 9 - 4 / A*- C grades, including at least a 4 in English and a 4 in Mathematics. At A-level in 2019, 96% of the grades were A*- E with 29% at A*- B and 61% at A*- C.  Similarly, high levels were achieved in Level 3 BTEC qualifications.

Under the arrangements for Summer 2020 examinations, students in Years 11 and 13 continued to make very good progress.

Our flourishing Sixth Form offers a wide range of A-Level courses, as well as vocational level 2 and 3 courses. Under the system of schools awarding centre assessed grades in lieu of 2020 examination results, student progress continued to indicate a strong and upward trend.

The Governors wish to appoint another confident and reliable Cover Supervisor to join our current team, as someone who enjoys working with secondary-aged students and values the importance of their education. Initiative and common sense, as well as high-level interpersonal skills are required in this job. Ideally, you will have worked in the role or a similar role, previously and can demonstrate effective group management skills and an understanding of classroom leadership.

This is a perfect opportunity for someone thinking of pursuing a teaching career to gain experience of working with young people in a school environment.

This post is considered to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers.  The school therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the person specification. These will be applied during the recruitment/selection and probationary stages.
