Blackfen School is a progressive and vibrant learning community that focuses on raising the aspirations and releasing the potential of every young person in our care. In 2018, 61% of students in year 11 achieved five or more GCSE 9 - 4 / A*- C grades, including at least a 4 in English and a 4 in Mathematics. At A’ level in 2018, 100% of the grades were A*- E with 41% at A*- B and 83% at A*- C. Similarly high levels were achieved in Level 3 BTEC qualifications.
Our flourishing Sixth Form offers a wide range of courses at AS and A2 level, as well as vocational level 2 and 3 courses.
We are looking for Examination Invigilators to join our existing team, to assist with the administration of all internal and public examinations. This is a very important role and you will be a highly valued member of the examinations team. You should be reliable, punctual, flexible, with an air of authority and a genuine interest in helping our students of all ages to achieve their best by maintaining a calm orderly atmosphere in examinations, and at all times complying with regulations.
It is essential that the successful applicant will possess good interpersonal skills and an ability to deal with matters calmly, swiftly and firmly, without being confrontational.
Previous experience in working with secondary school age children will be a distinct advantage as would any previous supervision experience.
Confidentiality inside and outside the workplace is essential.
Successful candidates will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Check.
This post is considered to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers. The school therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that the post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the person specification. These will be applied during the recruitment/selection and probationary stages.
