This is where you can search for books in the library, view new and returned books, read reviews and find out about featured authors.

Homework Club

The library is open after school until 4.15pm every day. A teaching assistant is available should students need additional help with homework on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Students can use the library to use the computers, do homework, change library books, or read for pleasure.

This is a drop-in club for all year groups.

Book clubs

Year 7 Book Club takes place in the library every Friday Lunchtime Week B.

Year 8+ Book Club takes place in the library every Friday Lunchtime Week A.

Accelerated reader

Accelerated Reader is designed as a guide to help children get the most from reading books - for pleasure or in school!

Students at Blackfen have taken a test via Accelerated Reader to determine their reading level and range.

This helps them to choose the right books from the library in order to make progress in their reading lessons.

Informal quizzes on the books they choose help to track progress in reading ability, and points accumulated for correct quiz answers can go towards prizes or Good Comments for that extra competitive edge!
