SUBJECT LEADER OF CITIZENSHIP, PPE, GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS
FULL TIME, TEMPORARY (12 Months)
SALARY: MPR + TLR 2b
Blackfen School is a progressive and vibrant learning community that focuses on raising the aspirations and releasing the potential of every young person in our care. In 2019, 60% of students in year 11 achieved five or more GCSE 9-4 grades, including at least a 4 in English and a 4 in Mathematics. Our Progress 8 score was 0.018. At A level in 2019, 96% of the grades were A*-E with 30% at A*-B and 63% at A*-C. Similarly, high levels were achieved in Level 3 BTEC qualifications.
Our flourishing Sixth Form offers a wide range of courses at A and A2 level, as well as vocational level 2 and 3 courses.
Under the arrangements for Summer 2021 examinations, students in Years 11 and 13 continued to make very good progress.
Our Governors want to appoint a well-qualified, motivated and innovative Team Leader, Subject Leader of Citizenship, PPE, Government & Politics. High expectations of professional outcomes underpin the work of our staff team. Ambition for excellence, a passion for student health, achievement and lifelong participation, together with the desire to develop professional skills within a supportive learning community will characterise applications for this post.
The ability to teach across the age and ability range is required.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service Check.

This post is considered to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers. The school therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that the post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
