39 weeks per year, 12 hours 30 minutes per week

5 days per week – 8:00am to 10:30am

Salary Grade: Bexley 08 Point 081 - 084 (£26,520 - £28,992 pro rata)

Actual salary, including Outer London Allowance: £7,885.44 - £8,620.46

Blackfen School is a progressive and vibrant learning community that focuses on raising the aspirations and releasing the potential of every young person in our care.  In 2019, 60% of students in year 11 achieved five or more GCSE 9-4 grades, including at least a 4 in English and a 4 in Mathematics. Our Progress 8 score was 0.018. At A level in 2019, 96% of the grades were A*-E with 30% at A*-B and 63% at A*-C. Similarly, high levels were achieved in Level 3 BTEC qualifications.

Under the arrangements for Summer 2021 examinations, students in Years 11 and 13 continued to make very good progress.

Our flourishing Sixth Form offers a wide range of courses at AS and A2 level, as well as vocational level 2 and 3 courses.

Our Governors want to appoint a Student Support Officer - Temporary, Part Time, to join the Student Support / Welfare Team. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to work with our students and their families to further develop their ability as learners. Liaising with members of the School’s Support / Welfare Team and external partners, this role will deal with issues, which are barriers to student’s learning.

The ideal candidate will possess sound report writing and organisational skills and have the ability to communicate effectively with all ages.

Qualifications in counselling/social work and experience of working with young people would be an advantage.

Confidentiality inside and outside the workplace is essential. 

Successful candidates will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Check.
