39 weeks per year (term-time plus 1 week)

15 hours per week (8am until 4pm, 30 minutes for lunch)

Blackfen School is a progressive and vibrant learning community that focuses on raising the aspirations and releasing the potential of every young person in our care. In 2018, 61% of students in year 11 achieved five or more GCSE 9-4/A*-C grades, including at least a 4 in English and a 4 in Mathematics. At A level in 2018 100% of the grades were A*-E with 41% at A*-B and 83% at A*-C.

Our Governors want to appoint a Temporary Receptionist for the main school reception. The key responsibilities for this role will include:

  • Be the first point of reference for receiving callers, children, parents, visitors and telephone enquiries.
  • Be helpful, friendly, approachable and professional service at all times and take appropriate action on their own initiative, resolving minor matters, referring more serious matters to appropriate member of staff.

     Candidates will need to be organised, enthusiastic, motivated and have the ability to manage their own time.  They should be IT literate and have the ability to multi-task.

    The successful candidates will be required to undertake a Criminal Records Bureau Check.

    This post is considered to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers.  The school therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that the post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.  The appropriate standards are set out in the person specification. These will be applied during the recruitment/selection and probationary stages.
