TEACHER OF CITIZENSHIP, PPE, GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS.

Blackfen School is a progressive and vibrant learning community that focuses on raising the aspirations and releasing the potential of every young person in our care. In 2019, 60% of students in year 11 achieved five or more GCSE 9-4 grades, including at least a 4 in English and a 4 in Mathematics. Our Progress 8 score was 0.018. At A level in 2019, 96% of the grades were A*-E with 30% at A*-B and 63% at A*-C. Similarly, high levels were achieved in Level 3 BTEC qualifications.
Under the arrangements for Summer 2020 examinations, students in Years 11 and 13 continued to make very good progress.
Our flourishing Sixth Form offers a wide range of courses at AS and A2 level, as well as vocational level 2 and 3 courses.
We are looking to appoint a well-qualified, motivated an inspirational teacher to join our Social Sciences Faculty. You will join a small team of specialist teachers, who teach Government & Politics at A’ level, Politics, Philosophy and Economics (KS3) and GCSE Citizenship. Over the last 7 years the Citizenship department has grown to become one of the most popular and most successful departments in the school. You will also contribute to the work with our exciting partnership with a school in India.
The successful candidate may be asked to teach a different subject as appropriate.
The post would suit either an NQT or more experienced teacher. The ability to teach across the age and ability range is required.
