TEACHER OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND DANCE
(PERMANENT, FULL TERM)
SALARY: MPR + OUTER LONDON ALLOWANCE
Blackfen School is a progressive and vibrant learning community that focuses on raising the aspirations and releasing the potential of every young person in our care. In 2019, 60% of students in year 11 achieved five or more GCSE 9-4 grades, including at least a 4 in English and a 4 in Mathematics. Our Progress 8 score was 0.018. At A level in 2019, 96% of the grades were A*-E with 30% at A*-B and 63% at A*-C. Similarly, high levels were achieved in Level 3 BTEC qualifications.
Under the arrangements for Summer 2020 examinations, students in Years 11 and 13 continued to make very good progress.
Our flourishing Sixth Form offers a wide range of courses at AS and A2 level, as well as vocational level 2 and 3 courses.
Our Governors wish to appoint an ambitious, talented, innovative teacher who is committed to raising achievement and who has the capacity to make a real contribution to the work of a supportive and continually improving school. Ambition for excellence, a passion for student achievement and the desire to develop professional skills within a supportive learning community will characterise applications for this post.
Both PE and Dance are part of our wider Expressive Arts Faculty. In our PE Department, we offer a breadth of courses at KS4 and 5 including BTEC Level 2 and 3 Sport, Dance and Sports Leaders and also Duke of Edinburgh as a curriculum activity. In our Dance department, GCSE Dance is taught at KS4 and BTEC Level 3 at Key Stage 5. Both Dance and PE are taught as separate subjects at KS3.
Applications will be considered from specialists in either Physical Education or Dance. The balance of PE and Dance on the timetable will be amended to suit the experience and skills of the appointed candidate.
The post would suit either an NQT or more experienced teacher.
