Blackfen School for Girls

At Blackfen School our vision is to raise aspirations and release the potential of every young person. We do this through our positive and growth-oriented culture which underpins our aspirational ethos. We build on our strengths and celebrate these, whilst recognising that feeling challenged and making mistakes serve as opportunities for learning and growth. Embracing this culture and ethos is important for every pupil and every member of staff.   

We expect our students to work hard, learn a lot and enjoy positive and respectful relationships with all members of our school community, becoming exemplary citizens in the process. It is a privilege to work with all members of our community to ensure that we realise this vision and to serve Blackfen and the surrounding areas, building on traditions forged over 80 years of education for girls on this site.  

Outstanding schools foster life-long curiosity about life: equipping students with knowledge, skills and ambition; nurturing professionals whose passion is creating learning that inspires young people to pursue the very best in themselves and in their work. Our students are expected to achieve at the highest possible level. There is no ceiling to what they can do or achieve on their journey with us. Our students gain experience to support their educational careers: performing a role in the school production or visiting galleries in New York, or Berlin; championing a bid to make the school a Fair Trade school or being a member of our student learning consultant team. 

As Headteacher at Blackfen school, my passion is that young people enjoy their success in school, become responsible, independent, outgoing and disciplined young adults and that aspiring to find and release personal talent becomes life-long accomplishment. My aim is to provide an educational experience that will nurture the whole child, ensuring that our students leave Blackfen with excellent qualifications that open up the world for them and demonstrating the personal skills that enable them to thrive in adulthood.
